Thanks for taking a look at my mini photo project!

These last few days I’ve enjoyed going back in my catalog and connecting thematic dots among images I haven’t shared yet (at least on social media). For some time I’ve been drawn to the idea of creating cohesive projects, but have been daunted by the work required to make and then curate series of ten or more images. That’s just felt like a large number of images to purposefully tie together. Plus, since I started photography, I’ve always gravitated toward making and sharing individual images. Breaking out of this mode has always seemed inexplicably difficult.

However, curating and organizing tiny groups of just a few images has turned out to be a fun process. I also think it can give life to photos that might otherwise struggle to stand on their own. When combined, these “black sheep” can contribute to a larger visual narrative.

Most importantly, there is something gratifying about making small groups of photos in order to tell the story of a place, whether that place is physical, conceptual, spiritual, emotional, or all of the above. Bringing past experiences to present relevance has been a rewarding process.
