A huge honor!
Last Thursday I was featured as Artist of the Week on one of my favorite photography podcasts, Creative Banter (episode 95). I was blown away by the encouraging words about my photography on this awesome show, which I’ve been listening to for about a year now.
Hannah and I were driving to our friend’s house for lunch when she played the episode on her phone, and I almost had an out-of-body experience hearing them talk about my work. It was surreal in the best possible way.
Ben Horne, one of the show’s two esteemed hosts, has been a photographic hero of mine for years. Many photographers know Ben from his well-known YouTube channel, which I’ve been a huge fan of since I started being more intentional about my practice sometime in 2020 or 2021. I’ve learned a lot about patience, timing, light, composition, and even environmentalism from watching Ben work his magic (and 8X10 large format film camera) in places like Zion and Death Valley.
Cody Schultz started the podcast as a college project and continually impresses me with his incredible black and white images and thoughtful writing. His written work often surrounds topics of mental health and art - subjects I find myself studying more and more as my creative journey continues. He is also the talented Editor for Nature Vision magazine, which I also absolutely love for its variety of quality writing and featured photography.
I don’t go about my work expecting validation or accolades of any kind, but of course I’m human so this felt really good. Ben and Cody, thanks sincerely for the kindness.
Smiling like a damn kid again ;)
